‘Community structures in flux: responsibility, care and resistance’
A Conversation with Casa Kuà and Trans Safety Emergency Fund moderated by FONCÉ
Panelists: Tzoa (Casa Kuà), Fabz Kagimu (TSEF), Moderation: FONCÉ (MigrArt, OKRA Collective)
The past few years have made it even more urgent for marginalized communities to build structures that are reliable and interdependent. The global political climate has increasingly embraced fascist and conservative tendencies, which have also translated into policy making and further structural exclusion of marginalized communities. Through the work of organizations such as Casa Kuà and TSEF, it is made evident that building structures around mutual care isn’t just an option but also a responsibility. Processes of establishing these organizations are an expression of hope for a more equitable present and future, but also signify resistance that is informed by histories of struggles for liberation.
The panel discussion is delving into the lessons each organization has learned over the past few years (or since their inception), touch on tangible fields of action in the current moment, and explore (utopian) visions of futures that draw from past and present realities where QTIBIPoC already lived in ways that seemed impossible.
