Siamo fatte per sopravvivere a questo mondo freddo: An Indigenous transgender person is trapped within patriarchal structures that render them invisible, their Two-Spirit identity erased by colonialism. An animal, also trapped, within the confines of a farm. Speciesism has turned their bodies into commodities to be sold, their lives into spoils to be taken by force. Both are fighting for their freedom; will they find it together? (episode in Italian, by Saya Mamani, translation to German and English)

About the author

Saya Mamani, born in Peru, is a trans and anti-racist feminist activist. Her background and experiences as a brown trans woman have led her to become politically active. Passionate about the world of translation and writing, she has published texts in Italian – often under the pseudonym “bidodici” – on the themes of anti-speciesism and anti-racism.

je ne vous l’apprends pas blends fictionalized fragmented memoires, afro-cosmic autofiction and indigenous sciences to tell stories of liberation: We encounter a child bouncing across rooftops, a Two-Spirit person standing up against western patriarchal hostility on a train in the middle of nowhere and collective voices shouting, dancing, breathing for freedom. We experience other worlds, amidst ancient stars, opening cages of animal farms and are moved by a simple phone call with a friend we wish we could be.

je ne vous l’apprends pas connects storytelling and sound composition creating an immersive sound experience rooted in constant movement and transformation. It’s audioscape moves fluidly across sub humming, shouted songs, thick silences, squeaking tram brakes, wind flowing through a field under the dust of dying stars in a summer night.

The encounter of sound and storytelling unsettles borders between languages, geographies, bodies and perception, resisting fixed meaning and stable form. With je ne vous l’apprends pas, x collective x offers a shared space for experimentation and relation, where alternative ways of being and knowing can be articulated beyond dominant hierarchies and categorization.
