DESCRIPTION:Swiss Happens: Black Womxn from Elsewhere in Conversation \nThree Black womxen from elsewhere who moved to Zürich at different times in conversation about their experiences and realities navigating Zürich\, Switzerland and Europe in the bodies they inhabit. One arrived over 40 years ago\, another over 20 and the other 10. What has changed? What has remained the same? How has this place changed me? How have I changed this place? What is home? Where is home? Who am I\, here\, now? \n  \nPaula Charles\, born in London in 1956\, grew up in the Caribbean on the island of St Lucia and in London\, sang in a soul band\, worked as a go-go girl in Switzerland and is committed to the cause of black people in Zurich. \nBrandy Butler is a contemporary arts performer\, with a strong focus on storytelling. Brandy’s passion is change\, and the instability that it brings. They believe firmly that change is necessary for growth\, and are committed to supporting such opportunities whether through creative\, pedagogical or community based projects(or some intersection therof!) \ntracy september is a multi-hyphenate artist and performer who works around themes of memory\, Spirit and protest\, with a particular passion for improvisation. For tracy improvisation is a way to surrender attachment. She uses her voice\, electronics\, texts\, archive materials and field recordings\, to tell stories that are deeply rooted in ritual\, community and communion. \n \n

No instrument or previous knowledge is needed\, but you can bring your instrument if you have one \n  \nSonic Solace is an interactive platform created by MigrArt\, which facilitates the collaboration of musicians and individuals without musical expertise. It enables the transformation of sound into a tool for communication and healing. \n  \nZainab Lax is a music therapist and multi-instrumentalist and specializes in music as empowerment for people who have experienced specialization. She has been playing the harp since she was seven harp since the age of seven\, but is also at home. Her inspiring loop performances are characterized above all by improvisation and invite you to dream but also to groove.

DESCRIPTION:Live Concerts by \nvivian wang & Yasmine Elbaramawy \n\nYasmine El Baramawy is an Egyptian musician\, Sound Artist\, Oud performer and Composer based in Malmö\, Sweden.\nYasmine creates soundscapes with her Semi-acoustic Oud live manipulations and abstract/electronic sounds voicing as a dense auditory landscape of concrete music along with Egyptian vintage music creating her unique cosmic sonic experience. \nLink  \n\n\nComposer\, sound artist and musician Vivian Wang reconfigures intermediate spaces and develops transdisciplinary works across a range of sonic practices in art\, culture and space. Her instruments vary between synth\, voice and electronics\, field recording and prepared instruments. A founding member of avant rock group The Observatory\, Wang has toured and performed extensively as a noise and improv musician since 2001. Her multichannel sound installations and performances have been presented at the Sharjah Architecture Triennial 2019\, Ekko Festival 2021 and Borealis – en festival for eksperimentell musikk 2022. \nLink  \n\n  \n

DESCRIPTION:  \nTALK TALK TALK #2 \n*Commitment\, Care\, Community* \nIn the second edition of our public panel discussion and podcast series TALK TALK TALK\, three reseachers and activists navigate the paradox of promise through the construction of „safety“ by sharing their formative experience in queer and feminist circles. They look into what strengthening a balance between accountability\, discomfort\, and Community-Care would entail. Also they wonder about how they can learn from ancestry knowledge when creating afrofuturistic meaningfulness and belongingness. This talk reflects upon what it means to build caring communities that challenge themselves by addressing the notions of repression\, power dynamics and the politics of space in and outside their margins. \nWith Niloofar Rasooli (Zanjan/Zurich) \nNiloofar Rasooli (she/her) is a writer from Iran. Niloofar writes and teaches at the intersection of anti-colonial queer feminism\, erased memories and archives\, resistance\, rebellion\, revolution\, and the reclamations of the built and lived environment. \nFupaMagic (GHA/Vienna/Bern) \nFupaMagic (she/they)\, MA.\, MSc.\, is a Black educational scientist\, lecturer\, musical artist\, facilitator and genderqueer lesbian. They work at the Gender Research Unit at the University of Vienna. Her work revolves at the intersection of education & community care by creating anti-racist\, self-empowerming spaces for people navigating anti-queer hostility\, anti-fatness and white supremacy in white dominant societies. \nModerated by Marilyn Umurungi\, an art and cultural researcher\, examines the stories of Black people in her work\, which reveal the entanglements of racism\, sexism and exoticism in the Swiss and European context. As an expert outside the field of historical studies\, she seeks to apply various approaches to intersectionality to historical research. This episode and the space is open for everyone.
