SUMMARY:Talk Talk Talk #2 : Commitment\, Care\, Community
DESCRIPTION:  \nTALK TALK TALK #2 \n*Commitment\, Care\, Community* \nIn the second edition of our public panel discussion and podcast series TALK TALK TALK\, three reseachers and activists navigate the paradox of promise through the construction of „safety“ by sharing their formative experience in queer and feminist circles. They look into what strengthening a balance between accountability\, discomfort\, and Community-Care would entail. Also they wonder about how they can learn from ancestry knowledge when creating afrofuturistic meaningfulness and belongingness. This talk reflects upon what it means to build caring communities that challenge themselves by addressing the notions of repression\, power dynamics and the politics of space in and outside their margins. \nWith Niloofar Rasooli (Zanjan/Zurich) \nNiloofar Rasooli (she/her) is a writer from Iran. Niloofar writes and teaches at the intersection of anti-colonial queer feminism\, erased memories and archives\, resistance\, rebellion\, revolution\, and the reclamations of the built and lived environment. \nFupaMagic (GHA/Vienna/Bern) \nFupaMagic (she/they)\, MA.\, MSc.\, is a Black educational scientist\, lecturer\, musical artist\, facilitator and genderqueer lesbian. They work at the Gender Research Unit at the University of Vienna. Her work revolves at the intersection of education & community care by creating anti-racist\, self-empowerming spaces for people navigating anti-queer hostility\, anti-fatness and white supremacy in white dominant societies. \nModerated by Marilyn Umurungi\, an art and cultural researcher\, examines the stories of Black people in her work\, which reveal the entanglements of racism\, sexism and exoticism in the Swiss and European context. As an expert outside the field of historical studies\, she seeks to apply various approaches to intersectionality to historical research. This episode and the space is open for everyone. The episode will be broadcasted over the airwaves on June 15th at 11:30 AM on Radio LoRa 97.5 MHZ \n  \nRegister: https://forms.gle/s6pMFzWZQgJzdDX46

SUMMARY:Talk Talk Talk #6 - Audience Podcast - sharing m/othering practices
DESCRIPTION:Talk Talk Talk is a series of Audience podcasts that are a live moment with Audience in the MigrArt space as well as at a later time will be published on different online platforms as well as aired on local Zurich radio Radio LoRa on 97.5 MHz.\n\n\nsharing m/othering practices\n\n\nm/othering ourselves is a sharing about m/othering practices and their radical potential when seen as a possible action\, more than a gendered identity. The act of m/othering – as a queer\, radical and collective practice and a communal responsibility for caregiving – is imperative to building transformational change. tina omayemi reden has invited Serena Owusua Dankwa and Ivy Monteiro to share their m/othering ways\, their caregiving practices and ideas on community spaces.\n\n\n\nWith\nIvy Monteiro\nSerena Owusua Dankwa\ntina omayemi reden\n\n\n\n \nIvy Monteiro ( Ivy is an educator and developer of practices and performative roles in Dance\, Music and Theatre Performance\, for small and big stages. They are a natural shapeshifter\, re- imagining and re-conceptualizing femininity\, gender\, social and race through (dis)identification from a post-colonial perspective. Ancestrality and Spirituality are reshaped and envisioned in queer futuristic pieces\, where the artist reclaims and questions their space in our apocalyptical future. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSerena O. Dankwa recently returned to academia as a lecturer and postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Social Anthropology in Basel. She holds an MA in African Studies from SOAS in London and earned her PhD from the U. of Bern. While working on these\, Serena was affiliated to the U. of Ghana and held fellowships at Columbia University (NYC) and Yale University. She is the author of the award-winning ethnography Knowing Women: Same-Sex Intimacy\, Gender and Identity in Postcolonial Ghana (2021) and a coeditor of Racial Profiling: Struktureller Rassismus und anti-rassistischer Widerstand (2019) and of Bildung . Macht.Diversität: Critical Diversity Literacy im Hochschulraum (2021).\n\n\n\n\n\n\ntina omayemi reden is a Zurich-based artist\, cultural worker\, organizer and lecturer. She primarily works in collaboration and is involved in collectives that focus on themes of collective care\, intergenerational exchange\, social justice\, and community building. Central to her practice are moments of deep listening and the act of making visible the intricate networks of relationships\, power dynamics\, resistance\, longings\, and desires. As part of the collective FUBU she has been organizing a variety of gatherings and solidarity events – from parties and dinners\, to intergenerational exchanges and seasonal rituals\, performance nights\, nature walks and collective harvesting.

DESCRIPTION:Doors: 20:30\nConcerts: 21:30 \nAddress: Allmendstrasse 93\, 8041 Zürich \, Halle D\, First Floor  \nAcousmo is a concert and sound art series focused on intentional listening. The duo utilizes a mix of trumpet\, cello and electronics to build worlds traversing through acoustic sound\, grainy textures\, expansive pools of sounds\, breaks\, cuts and beats. We’ve developed these varied sound worlds through live performance\, studio recording\, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The approach is conceived as an expansiveness that holds a personal intimacy. HxH wants to bring the listeners in\, tune them to the experience and take a long trip. HxH functions as a vehicle to bring together the mass of references and influences Chris and Lester share and create ways to crystalize those ideas in real\, expanded time to an experience over minutes or hours. Along with creating their own body of original music\, the duo also work as sound and installation designers; collaborating with other artists and institutions. \n  \n  \n \nMaxime Hourani\, The Ancient Instruments of the Future \n\n The Ancient Instruments of the Future is Maxime Hourani’s new electroacoustic project—an éloge to postmodernism\, fusing classical and extended string playing techniques with modular synthesis to shape evolving melodies that ground one in a quiet ease with doubt and scepticism. Hourani is a multidisciplinary artist currently in residence with Pro Helvetia at Kaserne Basel. His sonic impressions often mirror the landscapes in transformation that he encounters in his speculative surveys of contested sites. \nsoundcloud\ninstagram

DESCRIPTION:Doors: 21:00\nConcerts: 21:30 \nAddress: Allmendstrasse 93\, 8041 Zürich \, Halle D\, First Floor \nAcousmo is a concert and sound art series focused on intentional listening. It offers a space for concentrated engagement with live sound and aims to counter the fast and superficial consumption of music. In this cycle\, Acousmo introduces a new format: each evening begins with two solo performances by musicians or sound artists that are curated by the community. These are followed by an improvised set where both artists perform together. \n \nAya Metwalli (BE) \nAya Metwalli (b. 1988) is a vocalist who spits the anguish out. A cat with a broken tail born of Cairo’s heat and smog. She grew up in noise that gnaws at your bones. Car horns punch like brass knuckles. Shouting vendors wake the dead. Busted loudspeakers burst out discordant calls to prayer like orchestras that never tune. The piano offered her a different kind of melody\, but the guitar taught her how to bleed and write for the loners and the lost. Then she traded strings for static\, turning melancholic musings into gut-wrenching lament. The Guardian called her “something of a musical enigma”. Pitchfork praised her “spellbinding brand of anti-pop”. What you hear is a woman who stitched herself back together with her teeth. She takes the stage\, and it’s a spine-reveal spectacle that might disturb you a little\, but damn if it doesn’t leave you mesmerised. \n  \n \nTapiwa Svosve (ZH) \n(born 1995) is a saxophonist and electroacoustic musician living and working in Zurich and London. He has released work through Graham Dunning’s Open Sound Group net label and Raw Tonk Records\, and was part of “The Tomorrow People“ exhibition at the Elevator Gallery in 2013. He is especially interested in the relations between sound and space and the electronic and/or physical manipulation and abstraction of acoustic sounds\, creating different overlapping layers of small electroacoustic systems.  \n \nPoems by Rohan Zhou-Lee\, gender identity Firebird\, is an international award-winning Black Asian dancer\, trumpeter\, writer\, and public speaker\, with publications\, performances\, and presentations delivered in The United States\, Canada\, Switzerland\, and Japan. In 2023\, they became the first mixed race Black Asian Open City fellow for journalism at the Asian American Writers’ Workshop. Publications can be read on Hyperallergic\, Reckon News\, Newsweek\, and more. They published\, performed\, and received commissions for poetry at Luya Chicago\, Soar Over Hate\, Anathema Magazine (Canada)\, The 2024 Asian Asian American Research Institute at CUNY\, and the 2022 Unite Festival (Zürich\, Switzerland\,) and recently premiered their ballet poem Sandra | Song at the 2025 Aktionstage enough Festival. They are the founder of the Blasian March\, a Black-Asian-Blasian solidarity organization\, which began during the Black and Asian political upheavals of the COVID-19 pandemic. Through protests\, free book fairs\, and performing arts\, Blasian March has earned several awards\, including a certificate from New York City’s Public Advocate Jumaane Williams. Zhou-Lee has spoken on human rights at Harvard University\, Columbia University\, New York University\, Oberlin College\, the 2022 Enough Festival in Zürich\, Switzerland\, The University of Tokyo\, as a keynote speaker at Yale University\, and more.

Since an early age he has been engaged in improvised musical practices as a bass player and middle eastern instruments. Having a keen interest in electronics and computer science\, he stepped into the world of synthesizers and modular electronics which lead him to develop his style combining microtonal music and electroacoustic improvisation\, and explores rhythmic\, harmonic or atonal patterns by use of analog synths and acoustic instruments that intervene and mix into one another in noisier and quieter ways.He started performing actively since founding the duo fezayafirar together with f:rar (melih sar) in 2012. He is currently active in the improved and electronic music scenes mainly in Switzerland\, and is working in collaboration with labels such as Attenuation Circuit (Augsburg)\, Endtitles (Zürich). \nSharon Chan \nSharon Chan is a Hong Kong-born performer working across music and theatre\, with a particular focus on the theremin. She has studied the instrument under Carolina Eyck since 2022 and brings a strong physical presence shaped by her training in physical theatre. Collaborating closely with composer Charles Kwong\, Chan explores new possibilities of sound and performance\, developing a distinctive stage language that weaves together movement\, embodiment and experimental music. \nCharles Kwong (ZH / CHN) \nPhoto by Chee (IG @chaurism) \nCharles kwong is a composer from Hong Kong whose practice approaches music as collective experiential situations – within\, but also beyond\, listening and sounds. His creative output spans orchestral music\, collaborations with performers across diverse musical cultures\, site-specific and transdisciplinary projects that depart from the conventional concert paradigm\, and the exploration of performativity in electronic sound synthesis. Rituals\, fictionality\, chaotic systems\, nonhuman temporality\, social ordering in performances\, and intertextuality and hauntology arising from classical forms are some recurring core preoccupations that underpin his creative process and agenda across different media. \nKwong’s music has been featured at festivals such as Lucerne Forward\, Ultraschall Berlin\, Takefu\, Ticino Musica\, La Roque d’Anthéron\, Marvão and ManiFeste. Recent commissioners include the Lucerne Festival\, Takefu International Music Festival\, Hong Kong Sinfonietta\, Ensemble Recherche\, Hong Kong New Music Ensemble\, Tai Kwun Contemporary\, and the Hong Kong Arts Festival.  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n

She has developed a unique and very expressive style through the harp and its infinite possibilities. In this sense\, she presents her artistic journey\, mainly researching new sound textures through paradoxes between emptiness and noisy textures\, and harmonic and random-spontaneous vertical sounds. Focusing on non-traditional ways of playing – with extended technique\, prepared instrument and with effect pedals (hybrid\, acoustic and electric harps)\, Marina believes that as a woman and a harpist there are many stereotypes and expectations that can and should be disrupted. In 2022\, she graduated with honors with a Master’s degree at ZHdK (Zurich University of arts) under the guidance of Professor Sarah O’Brien (classical harp)\, Lucas Niggli (improvisation practices)\, Ariana Savall (renascence music) and Charlotte Hug (transdisciplinary practices). \n  \n  \n Photo by Joe Christman\n  \nKhabat Abbas(LDN) \nKhabat Abas is a cellist\, composer\, and interdisciplinary artist from Kurdistan-Iraq.
